Milano is a fan of the popular Atkins diet, and has even become a spokesperson for the company. She says that she loves that Atkins can help her feel better about her body and weight loss process.  "This journey with Atkins is about me feeling better overall, having more energy and reaching my happy weight," she told People. "The main dietary focus of the Atkins Diet is eating the right balance of carbohydrates, protein and fats for optimal weight loss and health. According to the Atkins Diet, obesity and related health problems, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, are the fault of the typical low-fat, high-carbohydrate American diet. The Atkins Diet says that you don't need to avoid fatty cuts of meat or trim off excess fat. Rather, controlling carbs is what's important," says the Mayo Clinic.

For many celebrity moms, there can be a lot of pressure to return to your "pre-baby body" after giving birth. However, after giving birth to her second child, Milano says that she wasn't in any rush to drop the pounds. "I wanted to give my body time to adjust," Milano tells People. "But about six months after Elizabella was born, I started focusing on losing the weight and making sure I was healthy and at my best for my family."

Milano says that the Atkins diet has allowed her to enjoy some of her favorite recipes, and she's made healthier substitutions in them. She shared some of her tricks with People, saying, "Some of my favorite things include parmesan-crusted chicken with cheesy cauliflower bake and tacos night with fresh guacamole. I have all the fixings and just use lettuce cups in place of tortillas."

Milano has two kids, and she tells People that she does a lot of activities with them. "My workout routine includes running around with my kids, does that count?..,However, I've learned that exercise alone is not enough for a healthy lifestyle." She does like spin class. "Cycling has many benefits for your body, too. You'll get an amazing cardio workout that challenges your legs and core muscles with minimal stress to your joints. If your joints cannot take the impact of walking or running, cycling can decrease pain while increasing aerobic capacity," says the Mayo Clinic.

Milano is open about her struggles with her mental health, and clapped back at a commenter on TikTok who asked if she "took her medication." She wrote, "First of all, no I did not forget to take my medication. I take my medication every day. I have anxiety with complex PTS [post-tramautic stress], and panic disorder. So, I take my medicine, because I like to just be functional."

Milano has become an outspoken feminist and activist for several causes, and is one of the most well-known celebrity activists out there. She has spoken out about the Presidential and Senate Elections, as well as mental health, and the #MeToo movement. Of her acting and her advocacy, Milano told the New York Times: "I think that there is a symbiotic relationship between the two things…I realize that I need to maintain that to still have clout in here," she said, pointing to the congressional hallway.
